Chapter Two
“Yep.”
“For how long?”
“Two days. I’ve got a game tonight against the Rangers and then one tomorrow night against the Islanders.” Corey explained.
“Sweet. I’ve never been to New York.”
“You’re not seeing much of it.” He told her.
“Corey come on! You can’t take me to New York and lock me up! That is just cruel and unusual punishment!”
“Deal with it sis.” Corey replied. Taylor huffed and diverted her gaze out the window of the plane, watching everything pass by as they began for takeoff. Taylor clung on tightly to the arm rests. She wasn’t scared of flying, just the takeoffs and landings always made her a little nervous. She didn't like the feeling it put in her stomach; that uneasiness. Once they were in the air Taylor turned and looked at Corey again.
“So do you have any hot teammates?” Corey’s eyes widened at that question.
“No!” He practically yelled.
“Oh come on, Core! There's got to be at least two or three. You've always had some hot guys on your teams in the Juniors. Oh! What's his name...Sidney Crosby! Now he is gorgeous! Is he on your team?”
“No. He’s not. And seriously, Taylor...just shut up.” The last thing Corey wanted was to hear which players his sister thought were hot, and he definitely didn't want to think about his sister with one of his teammates. Of course they were going to be attracted to her. Taylor had always had a lot of guys showing interest in her, but Corey was planning on laying down the law in the locker room the minute he walked in there. Under no circumstances are they so much as to look at her let alone talk to her. He glanced back at Taylor who was now looking out the window. He was starting to think that bringing her with him on the road may not have been such a bright idea.
__________
Taylor downed the rest of her cosmopolitan and held up the glass, signalling to the bartender that she wanted another. She had managed to sneak out of the hotel after Corey fell asleep. Corey had gotten her her own room, so it wasn’t all that difficult. She just had to manage to get past his room without him seeing her and then get back in the same way. But she wasn't planning on thinking about that right now. If he did go to her room to check on her she would just tell him the next day that she was sleeping. There was no way in hell that she was going to be in New York City and only see the inside of a hotel room. “That ones on me.” A deep voice told the bartender from somewhere behind her as the drink was placed on the bar. The bartender nodded and walked away. Taylor looked up at the man that had now positioned himself between her and the creeper that had been trying to talk to her for the past hour. She smiled to herself as she blatantly checked him out. This guy was extremely handsome. Everything about him appealed to her. If she had a type, she would definitely say that this guy was it. Physically anyways.
“I’m Ryan.” He said as he extended his hand out towards her. Taylor placed her hand in his.
“Erin.” She told him as he raised her hand to his lips and placed a gentle yet intimate kiss right above her knuckles. She never told random bar guys her real name. Last week she was Britney. The week before she was Kara. She just didn't see the need in giving her real name to guys she was never going to see again.
“Well Erin,” Ryan said with a smirk. “I was actually just on my way out, but I wanted to buy you a drink.” He said as he glanced to couple other guys who were motioning for him to leave. “Enjoy your night.” He said, throwing her an added wink before he turned to walk away. Taylor had never been one to let something that she wanted get away, and tonight was no exception.
“Ryan!” She called out, causing him to turn back around to face her. “If you're going to buy me a drink the least you could do is sit with me while I drink it.” The most stunning smile she had ever seen on a guy spread across his face as he nodded.
“I think I can do that.” He said. He turned to face his friends and waved his hand for them to go. They all took another look at Taylor with knowing smiles on their faces. They began making comments to each other and Taylor could only imagine what they were saying about her.
That one drink turned into three as Taylor and Ryan talked for well over an hour. Taylor was unbelievably attracted to Ryan. This didn't happen to her often. Sure she would go home with good looking guys after a night out at the bar...but she never found herself mentally drooling over them. This guy just completely did it for her. She finished off her latest drink and looked at Ryan. “What do you say we get out of here?” She said bluntly. The tone in her voice let Ryan know that it wasn’t a question. She was telling him exactly what she wanted. Ryan downed the rest of his beer and then stood to his feet.
“After you.” He told her as he took her hand and helped her stand up.
When the cab pulled up in front of the hotel that Taylor was staying at she struggled to remember if she had told the cabbie where she was staying. Ryan saw her staring at the hotel with a confused look on her face so he jumped in to explain. “I’m just in town for a few days.” She nodded, happy that she hadn’t brought this guy back to her room. That was one thing she never did. It was much easier to leave the morning after than it was to kick some guy out the morning after. At least she wouldn't have too far to go when this was all said and done.
As soon as Ryan closed the door behind them he was all over her. He quickly gripped her waist with his large hands and scooped her up effortlessly. Taylor wrapped her legs around his waist as he made his way to the bed. He placed her on it and pulled his shirt over his head before climbing on top of her. Taylor ran her hands down Ryan’s body. She could tell that under all those clothes he was fit, but she never imagined that he looked like this. He was toned in all the right places and his abs...his abs were probably the sexiest thing she had ever seen. Immediately her hands went to his belt as she began to work him out of his pants. Ryan quickly took over and freed himself from the rest of his clothing and then pulled Taylor from the little dress that she was wearing. She completely drove him crazy. He had never felt such raw sexual attraction to any woman before. He wanted her, and he wanted her bad.
Ryan raised his body over hers again, making sure that he didn't put too much weight on her significantly smaller frame. He connected his lips to hers as he pushed himself into her. Taylor gasped, completely not expecting him to just go for it like that, but she loved it. She loved that he was the one in control. She loved that he was the one calling the shots. “Oh goddd, Ryan!” She moaned as she dug her nails into his back. Ryan let out a deep husky groan and rested his head against her shoulder. She didn't know it, but that was one of the things that really got him going. Taylor threw her head back, enjoying the pure exhilaration of his powerful thrusts. She wasn't sure how long the thrusting and moaning continued for, all she knew is that she didn't want it to stop.
__________
Ryan walked into the visiting team’s locker room for morning practice. He felt like complete shit. He really shouldn’t have had those extra drinks with Erin last night, and his lack of sleep was kicking his ass. He walked over to his stall and sat down on the bench with his head in his hands. “Yo Getzy!” Joffrey Lupul called out from across the room. “If the way you’re looking right now is any indication of how your night went with that chick from the bar I am so jealous.” Ryan laughed at shook his head.
“You picked some chick up at the bar?” Corey asked.
“He sure did. You should have seen this chick, Perry! He’s lucky he saw her first because if he didn't I would have been all over that!” Joffrey continued.
“Dude! Shut up!” Ryan stated with a laugh.
“Oh please! I see that grin on your face! You’re dying to talk about it. Are you seeing her tonight?” Ryan shook his head and began putting his practice gear on. “Uh oh...was she a complete downer in the sack?”
“No. Last night was pretty fucking amazing. She was just gone when I woke up.”
“Man...that’s brutal.” Corey commented. “But you were late, you missed my speech.” Ryan looked at him, not quite sure what he was talking about. “My sister is living with me for a while. Don't look at her, don't talk to her, don't touch her...don’t even think about her. If you do any of the things I just mentioned, I will hurt you bad enough to put you on the shelf for the whole season. Maybe even two.” He gave Ryan a smile and then turned and walked back to his stall. The room went quiet for a moment when Erik Christensen piped up.
“So Perry! I’m guessing your sister is a total babe then, huh?” Corey whirled around to face Erik. “Because if she wasn’t you wouldn't be going all psycho brother on us.” Corey put his helmet on and turned to look at Erik again.
“That was your one and only warning Christensen. My sister is not a babe.” He said as he grabbed his stick and left the room.
__________
Taylor was sprawled out on Corey’s bed looking at a magazine full of events and attractions in New York City. Practice had been over for a bit and they had a few hours to do something before Corey had to be at the arena for the game. “I really want to go see a Broadway play!” Taylor stated. “Like really bad!”
“We don't have time to go to a play Taylor.” Corey protested as his phone vibrated with a text message.
“I can go by myself!”
“Yah right. You’ll never come back.” I came back last night. She thought as she grinned to herself. “A few of the guys are coming out with us.” He told her and then, as if on cue, the door flew opened. Taylor was on her stomach on the bed facing away from the door, so she didn't see Ryan when he entered the room.
“Corey P!” Ryan called out upon entering. They gave each other a one armed man hug and then Corey turned to his sister.
“Taylor!” Taylor rolled over and just about died when she saw Ryan standing in front of her. She smirked at him as she remembered all the things he had done to her last night. “Tay this is one of my good friends, Ryan. Ryan, this is my sister.” Taylor grinned at him and stuck her hand out towards him.
“Taylor.” She told him. Ryan, who was still staring at her with a shocked look on his face, took her hand in his. Good thing Corey was preoccupied or he might have realized that this wasn't their first meeting.
“Taylor, huh?” He said. “I think you look more like an Erin, actually.” Taylor burst out laughing and Ryan grinned back at her.
“Jeeze, Tay. It wasn’t that funny.” Corey responded as he clicked away on his blackberry again. Taylor’s eyes travelled up Ryan’s body and settled on his eyes. She bit her lower lip, unable to think of anything but last night. Ryan tore his gaze away from Erin’s Taylor’s eyes and glanced at Corey. God, Corey was going to murder him. He had already broken every single rule Corey had made the team agree to follow. Not only did he hit on his best friend's sister...he took her back to his hotel room and fucked her. His eyes connected with Taylor’s once more and he smirked at her as she was blatantly having sex with him with her eyes. This chick is going to get me in a lot of trouble.
Chapter One
“That's me.” She replied coldly, taking in his appearance. He would probably be very attractive if he wasn’t a jail guard. What a shame. Taylor thought as she looked him up and down. He was probably some uptight stiff that didn't know how to have fun.
“It’s time for your phone call.” He told her as he unlocked the door and let her walk through. He led her through the institutional hallways towards the office.
“It’s about time! I’ve been here for hours.” Taylor muttered as they approached the phones. He glared at her as he handed her the receiver. God, he needed to get laid. Taylor thought as she took the phone from his giant hand.
“You have two minutes.” He told her sternly.
“Wow! 2 whole minutes?!” She replied sarcastically as she began dialling the number that the cop at the desk had gotten out of her blackberry for her.
“Hello?” The scratchy, half asleep voice answered after numerous rings.
“Hey Bro.” Taylor said into the phone.
“Taylor?” Corey replied after a few moments of silence. He hadn’t heard from his sister in a long time. He glanced at the clock. Why the hell would she be calling him at four in the morning?
“Do you have any other sisters? Or any other siblings for that matter? Of course it’s me!”
“Listen, Taylor...I was sleeping. I don’t have time to talk. I have a big game tomorrow and I..”
“I’m in jail.” Taylor told her brother simply. She heard him gasp and was now just waiting for the backlash of anger and the scolding he was bound to unleash on her.
“Why are you calling me? What the hell am I supposed to do? I'm in California, Taylor. I’m not in..”
“So am I.”
“Sixty seconds.” The guard reminded her. Taylor shot him a nasty look from her icy blue eyes. He really needed to lay off.
“Listen, Core. I have to go. My time is up apparently. I need you to come get me.” He sighed loudly.
“Where are you, Taylor?” He asked, frustration looming on each word.
“Anaheim Correctional Facility.”
“Alright. I’ll be there soon.” He said as he hung up the phone.
Corey got out of bed and sleepily made his way to his closet. He pulled out the first clothes that he came across and put them on before heading out of his house. Taylor had always been hard to control. She was an attention seeker from the minute she was born. Everything she had ever done was to get her noticed. She craved any attention...good or bad. She was one of those kids that ran away when she didn't get her own way.
Growing up Corey had many memories of fights that his mom and dad had with Taylor that just got worse and worse as she got older. She would skip school, sneak out of the house, they had caught her smoking, and she started drinking at a really young age. Probably the worst thing about Taylor was that she just completely used everyone in whatever way she could to benefit herself. All Taylor cared about was Taylor. She didn't care that she had completely ruined her relationship with their parents. She didn't care that the way her life had turned out was breaking their mother’s heart, and she certainly didn't care that she was tearing apart their family. Despite everything that Taylor had done, Corey loved his sister. Their parents had cut her off and turned their backs on her, but he just couldn't do that. He had tried to forget about her, he ignored her calls but he always felt guilty afterwards and always called her back. He just didn't have it in him to forget about his little sister.
Corey walked into the police station and approached the man sitting at the desk. He looked up from his computer screen and the look on his face completely changed. Fuck! Corey thought. This guy knew who he was. He ran a hand over his hair and sighed. There was no avoiding it now. He just hoped that the media didn't find out about this. “How can I help you Mr. Perry?” The officer questioned.
“Uh...I’m here to get my sister.” The officer’s eyes widened and he diverted his eyes to the computer screen.
“Name?”
“Taylor Perry.” Corey responded.
“Ohhh.” The officer said. Clearly he remembered her. Taylor was one of those people that left a lasting impression though it was very seldom a pleasant impression. “Okay. How will you be posting her bail?”
“Uhh...American Express I guess.” Corey stated as he pulled his wallet out of his back pocket. He didn't realize that he was going to have to pay to get his sister out. He handed over the plastic card. “What did she do?” Corey asked the officer as he signed the credit card slip.
“Public drunkenness, underage drinking, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.” The officer read off the computer screen.
“Wow.” Corey muttered, hearing all the charges against his sister. “Are these charges sticking?” He asked.
“Well, yah. She’s got a record. There’s a court date set. She needs to be back here in two weeks for her arraignment.” Corey put his head in his hands. He couldn't believe that his sister had gotten into so much trouble. He knew that she had been arrested before...but it was never anything this serious. It had always been some cop picking her up and throwing her in the drunk tank for the night. “They’ll have her out here shortly, Mr. Perry.”
“Thanks.” Corey mumbled as he took a seat in the empty waiting area. His head was throbbing but he hadn’t registered it until right this moment. He glanced at his watch. 5:48. He sure as hell didn't need this right now. He had to be at the airport at nine. The team was flying out to the east coast for a few away games. He could probably manage for get a few hours of sleep in on the plane.
“Hey Core.” Corey’s head snapped up as he heard his sister’s voice. He stood up and took in her appearance. He hadn’t seen her in about two, maybe three years. She looked the same as she always had, just more grown up and she was covered in more make up.
“Hey Tay!” He said as he went over and hugged his sister. “Are you okay?” He asked, looking at her.
“I’ll be better once we get the hell out of here.” Taylor told him.
“Okay. Come on.” He grabbed a hold of his sister’s arm and led her out of the building. They stepped out into the warm Anaheim air.
“Thanks for coming to get me Corey.” Taylor spoke when Corey turned to face her. “But I’ve got to go.”
“What?! Taylor you..”
“Listen, I'm really grateful that you did this for me. I promise that I’ll find some way to pay you back. Right now I really have to go.” She flashed him that smile that had gotten her everything in life that she had ever wanted and he almost fell for it.
“No way.” He told her, causing Taylor to raise her eyebrows at her brother. “You’re not going anywhere.”
“I’m sorry?”
“You’re staying with me.” Taylor burst out laughing. She was not going to move in with her brother. No way in hell was she going to live with family members again. She didn't want what little relationship she had with her brother to suffer the same fate as her relationship with mommy and daddy dearest. “I’m serious Taylor! You’re moving in with me. End of discussion.”
“That’s really sweet of you Corey, but I can take care of myself.” Now it was Corey’s turn to laugh at the words that were spoken.
“Taylor if you were capable of taking care of yourself you wouldn't put yourself in these kinds of situations. You do realize that you have a court date, right?” Taylor nodded. “If you fuck up again you go back to jail! They won’t let me bail you out next time.” Corey told her. “So either you stay with me where I can keep an eye on you...or I go back in there and tell them that I am not comfortable with bailing you out and you go back to jail right now.” Taylor stood there staring at Corey. Was he serious?! Since when did her brother care so much about what she did?
“Corey...you don't have to worry about me! It was all a misunderstanding! Really!” Taylor insisted.
“I'm serious Taylor. Either you come with me or you go back to jail. I am not chancing letting you go off to do god knows what with god knows who. So what's it going to be?” Corey asked Taylor and instead of answering she looked down to her black strappy stilettos that managed to add three inches to her petite 5’3.5 frame. Yes, the .5 matters. “Are you going back in there?” Corey asked, pointing back at the building they had just come from. Taylor shook her head lightly. The last thing she wanted was to go back in there. She would never tell anyone this, but it scared her to death.“Alright. Come on.” Corey said as he wrapped his arm around his sister’s shoulders and led her to the parking lot.
For the first time in a long time, Corey felt relieved when it came to Taylor. He was going to make sure that she didn't get in to trouble if he had to lock her in the house forever. He was going to take it upon himself to make sure that his sister fixed herself. Whatever he had to do, he was going to do it.
